Focused Funding

Here you can see what V0LT projects and features need funding, and how you can help!

Often times V0LT projects are limited by a lack of funding. Due to the non-profit nature of nearly all software and services published by V0LT, it's hard to justify the upfront cost of development for many projects and features. Focused Funding allows V0LT donors to specify projects and features that interest them that they want to dedicate their donation towards.

Below is a list of V0LT projects that are limited by funding, and specific features that need funding to be developed. To learn more about a particular project, select its title to be directed to its main product page.

Please note that the funding goal of a particular feature is not a formal guarantee that a particular feature will be implemented. I often don't know if a particular idea is feasible until I actually try it and test it out. That being said, if a particular idea turns out to be unfeasible, I'll use any donations to fund other V0LT projects of your choice. If you insist on your donation being used for a specific feature, and that feature turns out to be unfeasible, I'll do what I can to get your donation refunded. However, refunds may not always be possible, since it may not be possible to return purchased hardware.

Assassin

  • Enhanced Bluetooth Monitoring
    • $0 $200
    • Description: Assassin is capable of Bluetooth monitoring, and can detect when certain Bluetooth devices are nearby, or when a Bluetooth device has been following for a suspiciously long time. As it stands right now, Assassin can only detect Bluetooth devices that broadcast their precense. Enhancing this feature would allow Assassin to detect devices that aren't actively broadcasting their hardware identifier, and would instead listen for packets directly.
    • Explanation: This feature requires a dedicated hardware device, and doesn't work reliably on most integrated Bluetooth adapters. This dedicated hardware is designed specifically to pick up low-energy Bluetooth packets.

  • ADS-B 978MHz Support
    • $0 $100
    • Description: Assassin can currently interface with 1090MHz receivers to detect nearby aircraft. However, some low-altitude aircraft broadcast on 978MHz instead. This feature would allow Assassin to more thoroughly detect nearby aircraft by extending the frequency that it can detect.
    • Explanation: For this feature to be implemented, V0LT would need to purchase additional antennas and tuners in order to test functionality.

  • OBD-II Integration
    • $0 $200
    • Description: OBD-II integration would allow Assassin to interface directly with the vehicle it's installed in, and access diagnostic information like speed, RPM, coolant temperature, mechanical faults, airflow, and much more.
    • Explanation: For this feature to be implemented, V0LT would ideally need to purchase both a USB and Bluetooth OBD-II reader in order to develop and verify OBD-II functionality.
